Paters and grids
A pattern is created when any visual elements is systematically repeated over an extended area. Many patters are based on a module or basic vissual unit.
A grid is created through a series of intersecting lines.
Motif is a concept closely related to pattern. Once the basic unit, tile, or original pattern (model) is created and repeated it is referred to as a motif. The smallest repeating design unit is a roll of wallpaper is the motif. The continued repetition of this design unit defines the wall and creates an allover pattern for the room.
Balance refers to the equal distribution of weight or force among visual units. Visual balance creates equilibrium among compositional units, regardless of their size, shape or weight. Negative and positive shapes work together to create balance.
Visual weight can be defined in two ways: weight refers to the inclination of shapes to float or sink, and secondly weight can refer to the relative importance of a visual element within a design.
Compositional forces that most influence visual weight are size, value, type of shape, texture, location and orientation. Context can strongly affect each of these forces as well. When a shape is placed on a neutral white ground, darker values and strong texture increase visual weight. Circles stand out when placed in a rectangular format, while squares tend to blend in. shapes that appear to extend beyong the upper edge tend to rise, while shapes that appear to extend below the ground—
Focal point are the visually most heaviest part of the pictures.
Symmetrical balance occurs when shapes are mirrored on either side of an axis, as in a composition that is vertically divided down the center.
In radial symmetry lines and shapes are mirrored both vertically and horizontally, with the center of the composition acting as a vocal point.
Asymmetrical balance creates equilibrium among visual elements that do not mirror each other on either side of an axis.
symmetrical balanced is both side’s equal. She thinks symmetrical is boring.
Proportional and scale strongly affect compositional balance and emotional impact. Proportion refers to the relative size of visual elements within an image.Scale commonly refers to the size of a form when compared with our own human size.
- Puppies should NEVER be sold when under 8 weeks of age. Puppies who are not given ample opportunity to communicate with its littermates are far more likely to develop dog-aggression later on in life.
- First shots should NEVER be administered before 6 weeks of age. After 6 weeks old, they must have another round at 8 weeks, and a booster round by 12 weeks.
- Puppies should ALWAYS have at LEAST 2 rounds of shots prior to leaving their birth home. Parvo and Distemper are puppy KILLERS and are easily avoided. Watching a pup suffer through either disease is strictly due to negligence on someone's part. Don't let it be yours.
- Puppies should ALWAYS have at least one round of dewormer before being sold, even when not displaying worms in their stool.
- A respectable purchase is one with previous agreement to spay/neuter. Unless you are showing your pet, there is NO reason to continue adding to the extereme overpopulation problem that your tax dollars continue to attempt at fixing. FIX YOUR PET!
- A puppy advertised as "CKC Registered" means absolutely nothing! Registration with the Continental Kennel Club requires 2 photos, $10 fee, and two "witness signatures" saying they believe this dog is a purebred. It means absolutely nothing.
- If your work requires you to be gone 8 hours a day, do not get a puppy under 12 - 16 weeks old unless you can hire a pet-sitter to do a mid-day potty walk. Otherwise you will have a nightmare trying to housetrain your puppy. Pups under 12 weeks generally do not have control over their bladders.
- Puppy for your small child? If you have a two-year-old, unless it's a small breed dog, your puppy will outweigh your child in less than 6 - 8 months. A 50+ pound 7 month old pup and a near-three-year-old child is a LOT to take on unless you are mentally prepared for the experience.
- Do your homework! Each breed has their own personality and needs. If you have an apartment, many types/breeds may not be suitable for your lifestyle. Not all Labs are good with kids, not all Pit Bulls are aggressive mental cases.
- Research general expenses BEFORE getting your new puppy. Be completely sure you can handle the added expense of your new puppy.
- Do you know how to train your new dog? Are you saying this because you trained your last dog? Unless you have trained several dogs, you need to understand that no one method works on every dog. Be prepared to say to yourself, "Okay, I need an outside perspective," and seek out a professional BEFORE things get out of hand.
A lot of people disregard the importance of responsibility in having a pet. This is a life you're taking on. Treasure it everyday, for it will treasure you far beyond your comprehension.
